Piano Proficiency Exam

An exam will be administered for those students with a piano background who feel they are capable of passing the Piano Proficiency exam prior to enrolling in MUSC 25A or MUSC 25B. See Undergraduate Student Handbook for specific exam requirements.

For Transfer Students

The placement exam is required of all transfer music majors for placement into appropriate lower division and eligibility for enrollment in upper division music systems courses. Note: course credits from other institutions do not automatically guarantee placement out of MUSC 001AB-004AB, Music Systems.

Any transfer student who misses this exam will have to wait until the August 2008 examination for placement at a higher level.

For New Freshmen

The Music Systems placement examination for new freshmen will be administered at the first class meeting of both MUSC 001A and MUSC 009. Failure to take this exam at the scheduled time will result in automatic placement into MUSC 009.
