College of Social Sciences

The College of Social Sciences offers students the opportunity to study human behavior, past and present, in all its many forms: individual, in groups and in national and international settings. A foundation in the social sciences prepares students to think analytically about themselves and the world we live in; to understand how knowledge in the social sciences is acquired and evaluated; to pursue a wide variety of careers in education, the professions, business, government and social services; and to participate as citizens in a rapidly changing world.

The wide variety of departments and programs in the College of Social Sciences enables the student to explore individual and historical development, social behavior and institutions, the environment and majority and minority cultures. The college offers a broad selection of courses which meet the university's general education requirements, disciplinary and interdisciplinary majors and minors, teaching credential programs and individually designed programs of study.
