The goal of the MESA Engineering Program (MEP) is to increase the number of competent and qualified graduates entering the engineering profession from traditionally underrepresented and disadvantaged groups. MEP successfully achieves this goal by actively recruiting students, providing support services until the students graduate, and acting as a liaison with companies offering employment experiences.
MEP assists students with admissions, academic and personal counseling, financial aid and scholarships, and registration for classes. A course prepares incoming freshmen by offering an orientation to the university and information on careers in engineering.
MEP also maintains a large study center for tutoring, workshops, individual and group study, and social functions. A summer job placement program assists students in obtaining jobs in industry that offer practical experience in an engineering environment.
