Admission to the College of Engineering

The college accepts residents, non-residents, and international students. All freshman applicants are encouraged to take the SAT I or ACT test as early as possible.

Applications should be submitted during the month of November for the following fall semester, and in August for the following spring semester. Most departments, however, also accept applications after those dates. Check with the admissions office for information about late applications. All students who have not attended for at least three years schools at the secondary level or above where English is the principal language must submit TOEFL scores of 550 or above.

Placement examinations are used to assure that students start at appropriate levels of English, Mathematics and Physics. First-year students should take these examinations as soon as possible after they are admitted. Consult the SJSU Schedule of Classes for details.
