College of Education

The College of Education continues a long history of preparing educators for a diverse, technologically complex society. Programs prepare students in a variety of educational fields, including teaching and other areas of specialization. Although a large majority of students are graduate candidates seeking California educational credentials or master's degrees, undergraduate programs in Child Development and Adolescent and in Communicative Disorders and Sciences are also available.

The College of Education prepares students for careers in teaching, school administration, educational counseling, instructional technology, special education, child development, communicative disorders, and other education professions. Shortages exist, particularly in California, for teachers and specialists prepared to work in culturally diverse environments. The college provides advanced course work in subjects where students can become effective decision-makers in complex educational settings.
