Lower Division Requirements

The following courses, along with lower division General Education, are required for completion during the freshman and sophomore year, whether at San José State University or at a community college.

BS - Business

BS - Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Corporate Financial Management, Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, Management, Management Information Systems (MIS), and Marketing

Requirements for the Major:

BUS 010 Discovering Business
Bus 010 is recommended only of SJSU freshmen.</em>
BUS 020 Financial Accounting
<em>Accounting majors must receive a grade of "C" or better in BUS 020.</em>
BUS 021 Managerial Accounting
Bus 021 is not required for Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, or Corporate Financial Management concentrations.
BUS 080 Legal Environment of Business
BUS 090 Business Statistics
BUS 091L Computer Tools for Business
ECON 001A Principles of Economics: Macroeconomics
ECON 001B Principles of Economics: Microeconomics
ENGL 001B Composition 2
A "C" or better is required in English 001B (a "C-" is not acceptable).
MATH 070 Finite Mathematics

Additional Requirement for Management Information Systems:

BUS 092 Introduction to Business Programming
To be eligible to enroll in upper division business courses at SJSU, business majors, at minimum, must have completed at least 60 transferable semester units including the following college equivalents: MATH 070, ENGL 001B, BUS 020, and BUS 090 with grades of “C-” or better (Accounting majors must receive a grade of "C" or better in BUS 020). Courses required in the major and in support of the major cannot be taken for CR/NC.
