Transcripts: What do we need and when do we need it?

FROSH

Frosh applicants are advised to hold on sending transcripts until instructed to do so. Usually, for fall applicants, we need to see a record of your coursework completed through the fall semester of your senior year.

These grades usually are not posted until January or February of your senior year. You will also submit a transcript after you graduate from high school that includes the date of graduation.

We offer provisional admission based on your self-reported information on your admission application. All of this information must be verified before you are allowed to enroll and register for classes at SJSU.

TRANSFERS

Transfers often worry about 'lost' transcripts, when in fact, we need to see documentation of specific coursework completed at various times in the admission cycle. All admission is provisional until your coursework is verified by official documents, sent directly from the institutions themselves. No exceptions.

Fall applicants should submit official college transcripts at the time of application. This way, we can see your progress toward meeting the 60 transferable semester unit requirement and your progress in the four basic skills.

Lower division applicants (with fewer than 60 units by the date of enrollment at SJSU) must also submit high school transcripts and SAT I or ACT test scores. If you did not take the SAT I or ACT, your high school GPA in the approved "A-G" series of courses must be at least 3.0 for residents, and 3.6 for non-residents.

In January, when you receive your grades for any coursework in progress, submit official transcripts from the college where you are currently enrolled.

You will submit final transcripts by mid-July that include spring term grades. Summer courses in progress are not used for admission purposes. You must meet the requirements by the spring semester prior to fall enrollment.

For spring term applicants, submit all transcripts and any necessary test scores at the time of application. Transfers who are using summer courses to meet requirements should wait until those grades are posted to submit official transcripts. However, submit completed transcripts from prior colleges.
