After You Apply

Step 1. Acknowledgement

When you apply via CSUMentor, you will immediately see a message from SJSU acknowledging your application and outlining the next steps. Included in this information is an application confirmation number. Print this information for your records.

Step 2. Activate your MySJSU account

Wait 5-7 business days from the date you apply, use your CSUMentor application confirmation number to activate your account by going to https://futurestudent.sjsu.edu. Through this process, you will retrieve your SJSU ID and password, both of which are used to access San José State's student information portal. If you missed this step, you will receive an email message from SJSU reminding you to activate your account and check your admission status.

As soon as you log in for the first time, check to make sure your personal information is up to date--especially your primary email address.

Step 3. Change your password

Change your MySJSU password to something that you can easily remember. Your student number cannot be changed, so keep it in a safe, but readily accessible place.

Step 4. Monitor your progress at MySJSU

It's up to you! Check frequently for any messages, and follow through on our requests for transcripts, test scores or other important documents we need to evaluate your application.

Step 5. Notification of Admission

Admitted students receive an email notification that they have met the basic requirements for admission.

A hard-copy admission packet will be sent to your primary home address. The first notification to frosh applicants goes out on February 25 for fall applicants.

The first notification to transfer applicants goes out on March 15 for fall applicants.

For spring applicants, admission packets roll out beginning in late September.

Students denied admission receive a hard-copy letter sent to their primary address on file at MySJSU.
