Admission: Freshmen--Compute Your GPA

Step 1

Create a three-column grid. In column 1, add in the number of semester courses you have taken next to (column 2) the grade you have earned. All grades earned in “a-g” courses taken in 10th through 11th grades are used to calculate the grade point average (GPA).

Summer school courses count, including the summer between 9th and 10th grades, but excluding the summer follwoing the 12th grade.

Repeated courses must be exact same course – use only the highest grade.

Step 2

Multiply the number of courses by the grade points per grade to get the total grade points (column 3). Honors courses taken in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades (maximum of 8 semesters, of which there is a maximum of two in the 10th grade) receive one additional grade point for each A, B or C grade. Add one additional grade point for each A, B or C grade up to 8 points maximum.

Step 3

Add the total from column 3

- Divide it by -

The total from column 1
