SJSU AdmissionFinancial Aid Application ProcedureThe cost of college should not discourage students from applying to San José State University. Many financial aid programs are available to assist students realize their dreams for higher education. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to apply for financial aid at SJSU. The FAFSA will be available at www.fafsa.ed.gov by December 2007. You should apply by the March 2, 2008 priority filing deadline for the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters. Applications are still accepted after the March 2 date; however, many aid programs award funds based on this deadline. SJSU uses a "need-blind" admission policy and does not base admission to the university on the student's ability to pay. The FAFSA form asks for SJSU's six-digit code, which is 001155. Students who apply for financial aid through the FAFSA will view a personalized Student Aid Report online. Students print this report for their records. The campus financial aid office will then contact you to complete your file and will determine your financial aid eligibility. It takes about two weeks to respond to your initial application and three to four months to complete the entire process. Seven steps to financial aid at SJSU:
