General FAQs-Transfers Only

I understand that SJSU now requires 60 transferrable semester units and the four basic skills to be completed by the end of the spring semester before fall admission. Is there any way that I can take a PE (1 unit) course in the summer in order to meet the required 60 semester units?

The summer course would be completed by the end of June. The course and grade will appear in my final transcript that will be due in July. No, the SJSU policy is that all course work must be completed by the conclusion of the Spring 2010 term for admission to the Fall 2010 semester. In fairness to the students who will complete this requirement on time, we cannot extend the deadline for you.

I have a documented math disability and I am majoring in Anthropology. I know that math is one four basic skills need to apply but I was wondering if you could waive or substitute that requirement?

Though there are no waivers of requirements for students with disabilities, substitutions are sometimes necessary, depending on the nature of the disability. Contact SJSU’s Disability Resource Center info@drc.sjsu.edu as soon as possible to discuss your individual situation.

I heard that if you don’t pass the WST you will be kicked out of SJSU, is that true?

No, you can’t be disenrolled for failing to take the Writing Skills Test. However, passage of the WST is required for enrollment in all SJSU Studies general education classes, including Writing Workshop (100W) classes. If you are concerned about passing the test, there are workshops and courses available to help you prepare for the exam.
