Language Change

Description
The nature and motivation of language change, including perspectives from neogrammarian, structuralist and transformational-generativist traditions; construction of a comprehensive theory of language change based upon studies of language acquisition, pidgins/creoles and dialectology. Prerequisite: LING 101, LING 111, LING 112 or instructor consent.
